The South Dakota Council of Mental Health Centers, Inc., represents a network of 11 Community Health Centers which provide behavioral health services to South Dakota residents statewide. Community Mental Health Centers (CMHC's) are located in Aberdeen, Brookings, Huron, Lemmon, Mitchell, Pierre, Rapid City, Sioux Falls, Watertown, Winner and Yankton. Each CMHC is assigned a service area consisting of one of several counties, and work cooperatively to assure the delivery of high quality behavioral health services in a continuous, coordinated fashion. Satellite and outreach clinics, managed by respective CMHC's, are staffed in communities across South Dakota to assure convenient access.
Although specific services may vary somewhat from one CMHC to another, a core of comprehensive services are generally available throughout the system.
Children's Services is an outreach program designed specifically for children, adolescents, and families who need intensive services and coordination of services provided by a variety of professionals.
Professional Counseling Services provide outpatient counseling and related services to the general public, as well as specific assistance for the business, legal and medical communities;
Community Support Services assist adults with major mental illnesses
A more detailed listing of specific core services is provided below. Additional services and workshops may be available through some CMHC's.
